About Pragmaphilia Labs

Practical work, done with care, aimed at a better future. That’s Pragmaphilia.

Pragmaphilia Labs: we care.

The name

Pragmaphilia joins the Greek pragma (a deed, a practical matter) and philia (love): roughly, the love of practical doing.

Philosophy

Consider the person at the other end in every small detail, so that anyone who picks up the thing can tell that somebody cares about it, and that it’s of actual value. Too much of what we use is made the way it’s always been made, with nobody stopping to ask how it ought to be.

So the lab makes small, genuinely useful apps and games that scratch real itches: free and functional, with a tip jar or a one-time unlock that gives good value, and never a subscription.

Working with AI removes the perspiration from inspiration, making it easy to get to instantiation:

Inspiration → Perspiration → Instantiation

Ideas that once stayed in our heads now actually get built.

Shortly after launching this site, we came across “Lex authors the apps, but Claude writes the code” on Six Colors, and it matches our working philosophy completely. The creative work is authoring: deciding in detail how an app should look, feel, and behave, while Claude writes much of the code. Care, taste, and attention to detail make the difference.

Where we are located

Pragmaphilia Labs is located in the suburbs of sunny Miyazaki, on Kyushu Island in the south of Japan.
